Tony Abbott mooo-ved by Beef

IT'S said politicians are usually seen shaking hands and kissing babies.

But yesterday, it was all about patting bulls as Prime Minister Tony Abbott toured Beef Australia.

Mr Abbott met students from several schools as well as meeting some of the cattle they had been showing at the event.

Speaking to media after the tour, Mr Abbott said he was pleased with the progress of Australia's cattle industry.

"Yes, there's a long way to go, but this country is on the threshold of an exciting new era and I'm really pleased today to be here in Rockhampton at Beef Week to see the exuberance, the confidence and the optimism which is so readily apparent in the beef sector right now," he said.
