Red Rooster chicken 'too red' for disgusted customer
A TOOWOOMBA man is disgusted after buying what he thinks was uncooked chicken from Red Rooster.
Tim Gainey bought three $5 quarter chicken and small chips servings from Red Rooster yesterday.
When he examined the piece he bought for his sick son he found what appeared to him to be blood.
"That piece was disgusting and I didn't let my son eat it," he said.
"As soon as my son saw it he said 'ewwww'.
"When I opened my order all the boxes were a little damp I didn't think anything of it," he said.
"The chips were fine, nothing was wrong with them. The leg piece was just cooked but the two breast pieces were like this (uncooked)."
Mr Gainey said he contacted the store manager and was told the red colouration was from marinade used on the chicken.
But Mr Gainey disputes that.
"I've been cooking for 20 years and I know it's not marinade," he said.
Mr Gainey said the chicken piece in question was only fit for dogs.
"You expect your food to be cooked no matter where you go, unless you ask for it rare but you don't get rare chicken."
"I won't be going back there," he said.
Mr Gainey bought the chicken from the Red Rooster at 833 Ruthven St, which has been contacted for comment.
Red Rooster posted online: "Thanks for getting in contact with us. We can see you have entered feedback also. The Territory Manager and State Manager are aware and currently investigating this issue we will be contact (sic) shortly."
The QLD Restaurant Support Centre was contacted for comment and a message was left on a New South Wales office customer liaison phone number that was provided.
Mr Gainey said he had been contacted by Red Rooster and was satisfied that the chain was taking his complaint seriously.
