Public invited to celebrate Adam Lasker at funeral

UPDATE: The life of Adam Lasker, the younger brother of murdered teenager Jake Lasker, will be celebrated on Monday, February 27.

The 21-year-old was found dead in his family home on Sunday morning.

While his body is still undergoing medical examination, his father John suspects Adam, who had severe autism, died from natural causes.

The public is invited to Adam's funeral service at Australian Heritage Funerals next Monday at 11am.

The funeral home is at 314 James St in Harristown.

It's the second tragedy to hit parents Joanne and John Lasker after their oldest son Jake was stabbed to death in 2012.

Kyle Mitchell Dumesny pleaded guilty to manslaughter in October last year.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by family friend Damien Kampf to help the couple bury their last child.

So far almost $2000 has been raised with a goal of $10,000. To donate click here.

EARLIER: When John and Joanne Lasker lost their oldest son Jake, 19, in 2012 they vowed to wake up every day for their youngest son Adam.

Now the couple has had to make that promise again, but this time for each other.

Their youngest son Adam Lasker, 21, was found dead in their family home on Sunday morning, just five years after Jake was brutally murdered.

The Toowoomba community has once again rallied behind the family.

In the late hours of Sunday night a GoFundMe campaign was created to help the family with funeral costs.

By 3pm yesterday, it had already cracked $1000.

Adam was a graduate of Clifford Park Special School and loved for his larger-than-life personality and "beautiful sense of humour".

His mother Joanne thanked her son for their 21 years together.

"We are so blessed he picked us as parents," she said.

"It didn't matter about his autism, he was just special in his own kind of special."

His father John found Adam dead in his bed. When he didn't come out for breakfast, he knew something was wrong.

"He loved his brother, they had a bond that will now continue," he said.

"When we lost Jake we couldn't do anything about it so we put an extra cocoon around Adam to protect him and now we've been rocked to our core."

Mr Lasker suspected his son died from natural causes and said an autopsy was underway.
