Top acts hit Yeppoon

BOXING Day is one of those days set aside on the calendar to party and the RudeBox Summer Festival will have it all - sun, music, drinks and the beach.

Bringing a host of top electronic artists to Yeppoon's Beachfront from noon until 10pm, RudeBox is addressing the "there's nothing to do on the coast" attitude.

Organiser Jonathon Offord is confident the event will prove popular and already has plans in progress for the next event, which will be a mix of electronic music and indie bands heard frequently on youth radio station Triple J.

"We have decided on our next festival location and are already talking to some big name acts. At this stage we are looking at April and may include a full weekend festival with 18+ on one day and an underage festival the next," he said.

Jonathon said support had been overwhelming from council, local police, Liquor Licensing, Capricorn Enterprise, local MPs and local businesses.

"We are sending around a letter to the residents in the vicinity of the festival site this weekend to ask for their understanding on the day and it also provides my contact number if they wish to put forward any queries."

Tickets are available online at www.rudebox.com.au or at Saks Yeppoon, Fusion Clothing, Heritage Hotel and Wink Hair in Rockhampton.

Buses will ferry punters from the Heritage Hotel from 11am then back to the after party and a festival ticket is needed to board the bus.
