Keppel Park track in top form for race day on Saturday

KEPPEL Park is looking picture perfect just days out from the Newmarket Cup race meet, thanks to the continuing hard work of Robert Hornery, Ray Armstrong and their team.

Yeppoon Turf Club president Greg Simpson said it was their time-consuming work that had prepared the grounds for another amazing day of racing, fun and glamour.

GJ Gardener Homes is the major sponsor of the Yeppoon Turf Club and is once again sponsoring the Newmarket Cup being held at Keppel Park on Saturday.

"The five-card meet is the most popular of the three race meets the club is given per year, however this year, because of the cyclone, this is the second meet and we're hoping for a large turnout of faithful and new patrons to make the day a great success," Mr Simpson said.

The event caters for the whole family, with a free jumping castle for children, a large array of prizes from local businesses for Fashions on the Fields, an open and well-equipped bookmakers' ring, on-course Tote, Sky channel and betting fluctuations.

Taranganba State School P&C is holding its major fundraiser for the year.

Gates open at 10.30am and admission is $10, with free buses to Yeppoon CBD after 5.30pm.
