Trio have sport covered
WHEN it comes to sport, Kurt Wiltshire, Lachlan Knuth and Mikeeley Hoch have got just about everything covered.
Mikeely recently competed in the Queensland netball side in Canberra, taking out second place, Kurt is in his second year representing Capricornia for rugby league and Lachlan will represent Capricornia for cricket in December.
A recent report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed these kids were not uncommon with their love for all things sport.
During the 12 months prior to interview, 1.7 million or 63% of children aged five to 14 years participated in at least one sport outside of school hours.
The top sport for boys was soccer closely followed by swimming and for girls it was swimming closely followed by netball.
The three Rockhampton Grammar year seven students were a perfect example, willing to have a go at just about any sport.
“I started playing netball in grade three,” Mikeely said.
“I also play touch football and softball for the school, but netball is my favourite.”
Lachlan has enjoyed cricket from a young age.
“My dad gave me a plastic cricket bat when I was only two or three, and I started loving it straight away,” Lachlan said.
“I also play rugby league with the school.”
Kurt just can’t get enough sport.
“I’ve played rugby league since I was about four or five. My dad likes it and my brother has played,” Kurt said.
“I also play rugby union for club and cricket for the school and club and touch and AFL.”
