Truck carrying dangerous goods rolled over on Carnarvon Hwy

THE Carnarvon Highway was closed 40 kilometres south of Rolleston after a truck trailer overturned earlier last  night.

The Department of Main Roads has advised it reopened a short time ago.

Police were advised around 5.10pm that a truck carrying a trailer with dangerous goods had rolled and material was spilling onto the road.

A cordon was set up around the crash site to allow emergency services to assess the material.

It is believed the container was carrying ammonium nitrate.

The highway was closed in both directions as emergency services worked to safely clear the road.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
