Two charged after remains of CQ man found in Cairns

UPDATE 3PM: DETECTIVE Acting Inspector Kevin Goan of the Cairns Police says the deceased is believed to be 28-year-old Thangool man Travis Davis.

Travis went missing in mid-October, after travelling to Cairns to find work.

A cause of death is not yet known.

12.05PM: POLICE have charged a man and a woman with murder following investigations into the discovery of human remains in bushland at Mona Mona yesterday.

Senior Constable Russell Parker of the Cairns Police says it is believed the remains are those of a missing 28-year-old man from Central Queensland.

A 19-year-old Kuranda man has been charged with one count of murder and a 19-year-old Kuranda woman has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder.

Both appeared in the Mareeba Magistrates Court this morning.

The man was remanded in custody, while the woman was released on bail.

The matter was adjourned until February.
