Two Warwick men 'caught with $7000 of ice'

UPDATE 11.15am: Michael Alexander Turnbull will remain in police custody until March after 13 grams of ice was allegedly discovered in the car he was driving last night.

The 31-year-old was denied bail at Warwick Magistrates Court this morning.

Turnbull was driving along Albion St with a 22-year-old Warwick man about 8.30pm when his car was randomly intercepted by police.

Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn said the ice was located inside the vehicle and was estimated to be worth about $7000.

A small amount of marijuana was also allegedly found.

Both men were arrested and taken to Warwick watch house.

Turnbull was slapped with 11 charges, including possession of dangerous drugs and utensils, disqualified driving, wilful damage of police property and obstructing police.

His 22-year-old passenger was also charged with possession of dangerous drugs and utensils and will appear in court on January 24.

Turnbull will reappear in court on March 26.

INITIAL 10am: A driver and his passenger were charged overnight after 13 grams of ice was allegedly discovered in the car they were in.

A 31-year-old man was driving the vehicle when it was intercepted by police on Albion St about 8.30pm.

Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn of the Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch said a small amount of cannabis was also found.

After the discovery, a search was conducted of the room the pair were staying in at the Coachman's Inn but no further illicit drugs were found.

Det Sgt Tamblyn said the value of the ice in the car was about $7000.

His 22-year-old passenger was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and utensils.

Both men were taken into custody at Warwick watch house but the 22-year-old was released on bail about 2am this morning.

He will face court on January 24.

The 31-year-old is scheduled to appear at Warwick Magistrates Court this morning.
