UFC Fight Night 110: Aussie Ben Nguyen stuns with victory
REMEMBER the name, folks. Ben Nguyen is ready to take the UFC by storm.
The wiry flyweight fighting out of Brisbane stunned UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland with a clinical first round submission over opponent Tim Elliott.
The 28-year-old brought his American opponent to the floor with a stunning take-down before stopping him dead in his tracks with a rear-naked choke.
Elliot tapped out of the bind immediately, giving the fiery Aussie the win before people could blink.
Nguyen was originally scheduled to meet former title contender Joseph Benavidez on the card, but an injury forced him out of the fight so Elliott stepped up to the challenge to replace him.
Unfortunately, things didn't go his way after Nguyen went on the attack almost immediately after the referee started the first round.
Nguyen had a daring message for Dana White after the fight, taking a swipe at the UFC president after he admitted the promotion had considered dropping the flyweight division.
"Was that a boring fight? Was that a flyweight fight? Hell yeah!" Nguyen screamed to an elated audience after claiming the win.
Nguyen's fight was on the preliminary card before Mark Hunt's clash against heavyweight hero Derrick Lewis.

'INSANE' KO ROCKS FIGHT NIGHT
New Zealand lightweight Dan Hooker stunned opponent Ross Pearson with a brutal second round KO.
Pearson began the fight with a strong series of jabs, sending the Kiwi fighter back as he gained momentum - but one perfectly-timed knee to the chin was all Hooker needed to send the Englishman to the deck and seal the win.
Pearson's mouthguard went flying on impact as he hit the floor in a daze. It was the 32-year-old's fourth loss in a row, forcing fans to question his future in the Octagon after another disappointing flop.
The hits keep on coming. Sneaky good free fight card delivering the goods once again! Hooker just knee'd Pearson into another universe.— Matt Parrino (@MattParrinoUFC) June 11, 2017
That was probably the last UFC fight of Ross Pearson's career.— Brian Mazique aka FP (@UniqueMazique) June 11, 2017
