Secret Girl Stuff creates new experience for Rocky women
"IT'S about making women feel beautiful about themselves."
That's what makes Megan Canfell smile every time she walks through the doors of her boutique.
Megan, who owns Secret Girl Stuff, has brought her fashion style and flair to women in Rockhampton after moving the boutique from its location in Emerald.
Megan opened the boutique in Emerald three years ago, after buying a shopping complex in the mining town.
It's always been about providing an experience to her customers, with a hair salon, beautician and cafe in the complex.
But after spending six years in Emerald, Megan and her family decided it was time to come home and settle in Rockhampton.
"Due to work commitments, my husband and I were both travelling a lot and it made sense to move back to Rockhampton as we are originally from here," she said.
"We have family here, my husband's work is centred here, and our teenage daughters were already at boarding school here."
The mother-of-five opened Secret Girl Stuff in late April when a space became available on Upper Dawson Rd.
"The boutique was always going to continue when we came to Rockhampton, but it was important for us to get the right location," she said.
While the boutique is new for some in Rockhampton, Megan said Secret Girl Stuff had seen a lot of changes over the years and they had always tried to adapt to their customers' needs.
"The shop has changed a lot, we have diversified into what people need at a particular time," she said.
"There have been tough economic times, and because of that we have changed a lot of our labels to make affordable trans-seasonal items that you can add into your wardrobe and use to layer."
Megan says it's always a great challenge to find new and exciting items to add to the shop, which has created its own unique style.
"We wanted to keep the boutique unique and a bit destinational; Allenstown has a lovely feeling and there are some beautiful surrounding boutiques on this stretch," she said.
