Avid recycler or artistic, these workshops are up your alley
DO YOU hoard recyclable materials with a vision to create useful or artistic items with them?
One of the region's well-known up-cycler (recycler) artists is running a basket-making workshop on Monday night at The Workshop.
Amber Countryman will run six sessions between now and August, including the basket making session, pallet wood signs and image transfer, recycled baskets, basic macramé, natural soap making and coil stitched bowls.
"All recycled and found material," she said.
Amber will be teaching Monday night participants how to make beautiful free form baskets out of palm fibres.
This workshop calls for bare feet and a seated position on the floor.
Using palm fibres destined for green waste, participants will be shown the 'random weave' technique and weave away to create their very own basketful of creativity.
The cost of Amber's workshops is $25 per person (all materials included).
Other activities at The Workshop include Yoga in the Gallery at 5.45pm on Thursdays from tonight.
You can try your first class for $5.
Fashion Feast Friday is on tomorrow from 6pm.
