UPDATE: Rider flown to Brisbane in critical condition

UPDATE SUNDAY: The crashed motorbike rider was flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital Saturday night in a critical condition.

UPDATE 3.50PM: The 60-year-old motorbike rider who crashed at Pinnacle Saturday morning is now in a critical condition, a Mackay Base Hospital spokeswoman said.

UPDATE: A motorbike rider has been transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious condition following a crash near Pinnacle.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the rider had crashed into the back of a car on the Mackay-Eungella Road at 11.23am.

The road, west of the Pinnacle Hotel, remains closed to traffic.

EARLIER: Emergency services are on the scene of a motorbike crash near Pinnacle.

Initial reports suggest that shortly before 11.30am Saturday a motorbike crashed into the back of a car, on the Mackay-Eungella Road about 2km west of the Pinnacle Hotel.

It is believed the one person involved is conscious.

Queensland Ambulance Services and Queensland Police Service are at the scene.
