UPDATE: Snake bite victim drives himself to find help
UPDATE 3PM: A MAN remains in a stable condition after being airlifted to hospital following a snake bite.
A RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter Service spokesperson said a man in his 50s was bitten on the lower leg at approximately 8.30am this morning at a work site on the Dawson Hwy between Biloela and Banana.
The man then drove himself to the on-site first aid station.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man was transported to Biloela Hospital in a stable condition before being airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital.
A Rockhampton Hospital spokesperson said the man remained in hospital in a stable condition, but was unable to comment on the type of snake that bit the man.
UPDATE 1.15PM: A MAN has been airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital after being bitten by a snake earlier this morning.
A Rockhampton Hospital spokesperson said they will be able to make comment later this afternoon after a medical assessment has been made.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man was transported to the Biloela Hospital in a stable condition before being airlifted by the RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter Service to Rockhampton Hospital.
An update from the hospital is expected by 2pm.
10AM: A MAN, aged in his 50s, is set to be airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital after a snake bite on the Dawson Hwy.
The RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter is en route to pick up the victim, a social media post by the rescue service says.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Ambulance Service said the man was on a stretch of the highway between Biloela and Banana when he was bitten.
It's understood it was at a quarry.
The spokesperson said ambulance officers were with the man, awaiting the rescue helicopter.
It was not known at this stage what type of snake bit the man.
It comes after a man was bitten by a snake at Berserker last night.
Paramedics were called to Bernard Street at 10.20pm after a male in his late-30s was reportedly bitten by a snake. He was transported in a stable condition to Rockhampton Hospital.
The bite was one of six reported across Queensland last night.
