Upgrades to water treatment

THE Glenmore Water Treatment Plant is back online following an upgrade to the sludge scrapers by Fitzroy River Water.

Council's Water Committee Chair, Councillor Greg Belz said routine maintenance and upgrades of this equipment is very important to the overall treatment process.

"The sludge scrapers are used to scrape settled river silt out of sedimentation tanks and were identified as requiring attention due to the age of the existing electrical switchboards and controls," Cr Belz said.

"FRW took advantage of the periods with each tank offline to perform other preventative maintenance to ensure that both sedimentation tanks continue to operate effectively into the future.

"Both sedimentation tanks at Glenmore Water Treatment Plant are now back online and operating effectively to meet the increase in water demand as summer approaches.
