V8s rolling out changes, just for starters

V8 Supercars management will employ a history-making rolling start across its races as part of the Australian Grand Prix program, from March 13-16.

The rolling starts are designed to provide more entertainment for motorsport fans, particularly on the long run down the main straight into turn one.

Drivers will also line up side-by-side for any safety car restarts across the event.

And in a tie-in with F1, the final race of the weekend in Melbourne will be worth double points, just like the final race of the F1 season in Abu Dhabi.

V8 ambassador Craig Lowndes (pictured) welcomed the changes and expected the new format.

"Arriving at the first corner after a rolling start is certainly going to be interesting. I think it'll be more important than ever to be at the front of the field and out of trouble," he said.

"I'm already looking forward to the weekend."
