Police firearm discharged after vehicle droves towards car

POLICE were looking for a vehicle linked to offences in Barcaldine and Longreach on Friday when another vehicle drove towards them.

Around 5.30pm, police had been on the Landsborough Hwy, 35km south of Winton, when the vehicle was allegedly driven in the direction of police. During the incident, a police firearm was discharged.

A man, 41, is facing a string of charges, including evading police, while a woman, 32, is facing two counts of stealing.

Ethical Standards Command is investigating.
