The comments, in Question Time today, follow the passing of legislation to enact the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund.

The bill now sits with the Senate.

In February, Mr Turnbull and Mr Joyce flew over the proposed Rookwood site as she lobbied for government support.

In Question Time today, Mr Turnbull spoke about the project in response to a statement by Bob Katter on infrastructure.

"He left out the Rookwood Weir site on the Fitzroy which I visited recently with the Member for Capricornia and I know the Deputy Prime Minister was there recently himself … and the Northern Australia infrastructure legislation passed through all stages of this house today," Mr Turnbull said.

"So that legislation is on its way to the Senate where we expect it to attract the same level of support so it will become law and become operative by July."

Mr Joyce also mentioned the projects.
