Vintage is season’s stunner, designers have exclusive range

BEAUTIFUL vintage gowns are the latest in bridal fashion this season.

Suny Albert, owner of Belle's and Whistles, said lace, capped sleeves, plunging backs and the classic mermaid style is right on trend and very popular this season.

"Some of the labels are bringing out exclusive vintage ranges in lace," she said.

Interestingly, bridal gowns are also beginning to shy away from the more traditional creams and whites.

Suny said most dresses are bringing in colour, á la Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory fame, who sported a pink wedding dress recently.

Jacquard fabrics are also very on trend, with printed details like leaves draped over lace giving an elegant finish.

In terms of formal wear, red is set to be the big colour this year.

"There's two colour charts - soft pastels in mints, soft peaches and nudes, which and continually popular," Suny said. "On the other side red and purple are going to be really big.

"The classic formal is continuing with lots of rhinestones and lots of diamantes and embellishments."

Peplums are really big for the new season, as well as straight skirts in satins or beautiful flowing chiffons with rhinestones and embellishments.

The good news for those in the market for a gown this month is that all the newest stock for 2014 was launched at the end of last year, so all the new arrivals in store are the latest styles.
