Witness Zoe Howlett was visiting her daughter at a nearby unit when the fight broke out.

"We were just sat down to watch a TV series and heard a lot of yelling and shouting and looked out they were fighting in the middle of the road," Ms Howlett said.

"They had each other on the ground fighting.

"One bloke had the other one in a headlock so we had to pull them apart.

"They had a metal rod that one was trying to attack the other one with."

She said cars were pulling up and passers-by were able to help separate the men to opposite sides of the road until police arrived.

"After we pulled them apart it was a bit sort of scary because they were trying to grab anything to get at each other."

Police put one of the men in the back of a paddy wagon.

An officer could be seen carrying a metal rod away from the scene that looked similar to a golf club without a head on it.

The cause of the fight is being investigated.
