AUTUMN may have just started but Warwick's quirky winter festival is already on the minds of Warwick Tourism and Events CEO Tracy Vellacott and Warwick Art Gallery director Karina Devine.

Mrs Vellacott said she and Ms Devine were excited to begin event preparations for Jumpers and Jazz in July by showing off the event's new website jumpersandjazz.com

"We are hoping to drive a lot more traffic to our new website, which in turn will see greater numbers of visitors and locals attend specific Jumpers and Jazz events within the region," she said.

Ms Devine said the art gallery team was working through tree allocations and bookings were being taken for the program of festival workshops.

She said offerings ranged from Monster Factory, where participants could explore the cute world of amigurumi (knitting or crocheting stuffed toys), to creating teapot jumpers (or tea cosies).

"We also have fabric painting and printing workshops, as well as a Rhapsody in Velvet and Bohemian Baubles workshop," Ms Devine said.

Mrs Vellacott said plans were humming along on the first Sunday's car event, the second Saturday's street party and the Sunday Picnic in the Park.

"What we really want to see now is community members get involved through the street party committee or perhaps through volunteering at an event," Mrs Vellacott said.

Interested people can attend the first street party committee meeting at the Warwick Art Gallery at 5.30pm on Tuesday, March 6.
