Visitors to Mount Morgan Dam find it so cool

A NEW shade structure will be installed at the playground at the Mount Morgan Dam.

Work on the $145,000 project will start on October 7 and should take about a month to complete.

The playground area will be closed off until the installation is finished.

Cr Cherie Rutherford, chair of the Rockhampton Regional Council's parks and recreation committee, said the structure was needed to support the increase in recreational users at the dam.

The dam was the backdrop for the 2014 Silver Wattle Day last Sunday.

Hundreds of people flocked to the event, which celebrates the Mount Morgan area and the Mount Morgan Wattle. It follows National Wattle Day, which is held each year on September 1.
