Wallabies turn eyes to Irish after rare success

THE Wallabies will have the Irish firmly in their sights when they attempt to win consecutive Tests for the first time this year in Dublin on Saturday.

A crushing 50-20 win against Italy in Turin yesterday chalked up just the third win in 11 Tests for Australia in 2013, the first win of their end-of-season European tour following the loss to England in the opener.

Winger Nick Cummins crossed twice on his way to man-of-the-match honours as his side scored seven tries to three.

Queensland-born Luke McLean had opened the scoring for Italy with a try in his 50th appearance for his adopted county, before Australia turned on the attacking rugby to tear his side's defence apart.

Australian captain Ben Mowen said while the demolition job on the Azzurri was a confidence booster, his side had already moved on.

"We've spoken about next week, we're after two in a row," he said.

"The guys are really proud (after the Italian win), but have already flicked into the mode for Ireland."

Ireland warmed up for next week's clash with the Wallabies by crushing Samoa 40-9.

AUSTRALIA 50 (Ben Mowen, Tevita Kuridrani, Nick Cummins (2), Adam Ashley-Cooper, Joe Tomane, Israel Folau tries; Quade Cooper 4 conv, Christian Leali'lifano 2 conv, pen) d ITALY 20 (Luke McClean, Lorenzo Cittadini, Tomasso Allan tries; Alberto Di Bernado conv, pen).

Other results: France 19 All Blacks 26; England 31 Argentina 12; Wales 15 South Africa 24; Scotland 42 Japan 17.
