WANDERERS continued on their winning way on Saturday afternoon to notch an 8-1 win over Rockhampton Souths in the A1 Men's Rockhampton Hockey contest at Kalka Shades.

Frenchville Rovers also continued their streak of strong performances with a 5-4 victory over Gladstone Sparks while Meteors won via forfeit from Park Avenue Brothers.

In the A1 women's game, Southside United took down Frenchville Rovers 7-1.

While happy to take the points, Wanderers coach and player Aaron Harmsworth said that was all he took out of the match with Souths.

"I didn't take too much out of it. Southside had a fair few players away and fielded a younger team and it wasn't the match-up we were expecting," Harmsworth said.

"We've only lost one game this year and it was to Souths. I guess it depends who turns up on the day in local sport.

"I'm glad we got the win and it didn't turn into a scrappy match."

Preparing to face an in-form Frenchville squad this weekend, Harmsworth wasn't too sure what to expect. "Frenchville are another team that we can put a decent team on the field and they're pretty strong in the penalty corners," he said.
