Drug search lands two men in Rockhampton court

A POLICE drug search warrant on a Frenchville home on October 16 landed two men in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Friday with one bong and four drug-related charges between them.

Daniel Edward Morelli pleaded guilty to one count each of permitting a dwelling to be used in the connection of smoking a dangerous drug, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug-related utensils while Conrad Athol Leigh Lidster pleaded guilty to one count of possessing drug-related utensils.

Police found a bowl containing cannabis and a plastic bottle with a cone piece fashioned into a water pipe in a bedroom cupboard and 13.5g of cannabis in clip-seal bags in the kitchen which Morelli said he purchased for $100.

Lidster said he had used the water pipe in the past but did not own it.

"I have disgraced myself and the time of the courts," Lidster said.

A defence lawyer for Morelli said the 33-year-old was taking steps to be more involved in the community.

"He's getting out and doing things rather than sitting at home and smoking a bong with a mate," he said.

Lidster was fined $300 while Morelli was sentenced to 120 hours of community service.
