Warwick hotel closure shocks local residents

THE Palace Hotel in Warwick has closed today and is unlikely to re-open before the end of the year.

Management told the Warwick Daily News that those who have booked the venue for Christmas functions had been informed of the closure. 

A spokesman for the hotel would not comment on the long-term future of the Palmerin St hotel.

Rumours were rife across Warwick this morning about the cause of the closure, with many pointing to financial distress.

Warwick Chamber of Commerce president Lewis von Stieglitz was unaware that the hotel had shut down.

He said it came as a surprise considering a major expansion of the Palace Hotel had only recently been approved by Southern Downs Regional Council.
