WATCH: Lea Taylor outlines his plans for council finance

ROCKHAMPTON mayoral candidate Lea Taylor today outlined his policies, including a plan to reduce Rockhampton Regional Council's debt.

Mr Taylor said he was "deeply concerned at the level of debt this administration has run up over the last term".

He said when he handed over his mayoral administration in 1997, debt was $17.3 million, down from $38.6 million after the 1991 floods.

"We gave the people a 12 month Rate Freeze to help them recover from the floods and catch up from the rate hikes of the previous years, as well as carrying out many major repair budgets, such as a 200% increase in the Works' Budget during this period," he said.
