A CHANNEL Nine reporter has had a lit cigarette put out on her face outside Caboolture Magistrates Court.
Media were attempting to interview supporters of alleged murderer Stevee Jane Kennedy, who appeared before the court on Monday morning, when a young female supporter allegedly lit a cigarette, blew smoke into their faces and then allegedly stubbed out the cigarette on reporter Alex Bernhardt's face.
Just had a woman stub her lit cigarette into my face at Caboolture Court...Charming.— Alex Bernhardt (@ABernhardt9) June 7, 2015
A man accompanying the woman also barked like a dog while media were attempting to interview him.
Caboolture News reporter Dominic Geiger also allegedly had his phone grabbed in the media scrum.
A 23-year-old woman has since been charged with public nuisance over the incident. She is due to appear in court on July 23.
Meanwhile, Kennedy has been remanded in custody to reappear on July 24 at Caboolture Magistrates Court.
She appeared dressed in prison issued clothing, and asked supporters in the public gallery to bring her mother into the court room.
She wept and put her head in her hands as supporters blew kisses.
Kennedy has been accused of murdering a 26-year-old Caboolture man Freeman Brookes.
Acting Detective Inspector Lyndal Wiggins said the man had walked into a Lower King St service station about 1.15am and requested help for an apparent stab wound.
He was transported to Caboolture Hospital and treated for a single stab wound to the abdomen but died a short time later.
It has been reported Brookes was walking on the street following a call from an unnamed woman, asking for him to come over, when he was allegedly stabbed.
Following the incident, Brooke's sister Tahya Tivahn Pendergast took to Facebook to grieve.
"I never truly thought I would have to say goodbye to you, mum, Cj and I will forever hold you in our hearts that one day we may see you again," she wrote.
"Our mother is finding it hard to grasp closure that a mother should never have to endure a loss like this."
