Police find body of missing boatie near Port of Brisbane

UPDATE: A SEA and air search for a missing boatie near the Port of Brisbane ended on Friday afternoon with police confirming the discovery of a man's body.

The hunt for the man began after his dinghy turned up empty.

Only an hour before, about 11.30am, the 41-year-old man had spotted on the dinghy heading out of the mouth of the Brisbane River.

Three water police vessels, a media helicopter and other agencies were involved in the search.

EARLIER: POLICE are conducting a sea and air search for a man missing in the Port of Brisbane.

Police say at 11.30am, a dingy was observed with a man on board believed to be travelling out of the mouth of the Brisbane River.

Around an hour later, the empty dingy was spotted floating in the water.

Three water police vessels with the assistance of other agencies are currently searching the Port of Brisbane area.
