Wax On

Carissa Stark taught students how to layer colured wax on a wick to create beautiful multi coloured candles at a free workshop at the Community Development Centre in Yeppoon on January 19.

Taking a thick piece of wick tied on one end students steadily layered the hot wax onto the wick by dipping into large containers of coloured wax.

Each colour was sealed in cool water before dipping the wick in another colour and so on until the candle had a series of layered colours.

Once the layering of colours was completed Carissa demonstrated the different designs you could cut into the candle to reveal the multi coloured layers beneath.
