Ex Broncos teammate challenges ‘out of form’ Boyd
Broncos legend Sam Thaiday has called on Darius Boyd to put the disappointment of losing the club captaincy behind him and lead the young players out of the fire.
The Broncos have been heavily criticised in the wake of their record 59-0 loss to the Roosters and Thaiday believes Boyd needs to take more responsibility in a young side decimated by injuries and suspension.
"Darius is a little bit out of form and he'll tell you that himself," Thaiday said on WWOS QLDER.

"I would love to challenge Darius Boyd. What I saw on Thursday night (a 59-0 loss to the Roosters) was they needed someone to stand up in those huddles and go, 'They've scored a try on us here, we can't just let this keep happening, we need to move on'.
"I think what happens to a lot of these younger players, they're over-thinking things and they kind of go into their shell a little bit and then that's when you get the snowball effect.
"That's when the try after try comes because there's no one standing out there going, 'OK, it's done and dusted, we can't change that, they've scored that try, let's move on, what's our next job?' And really break the game down because at the end of the day, it's a very simple game.
"They just need someone to stand up. I think even with Darius not being the captain now, he can still lead on the field as a captain would lead. He's got that in him."
The Broncos face a leadership crisis with new skipper Alex Glenn currently sidelined with a leg injury.
Broncos legend and board member Darren Lockyer called on senior players Matt Lodge and Joe Ofahengaue and new recruit Ben Te'o to show the younger players the way forward against the Sea Eagles on Thursday night.
"He's going to be short of a run, it's going to take him a few weeks, but I think just having his presence there will help those young kids," Lockyer said of Te'o on QLDER.
"Kotoni Staggs is back, Tevita [Pangai Jr] is back next week. I guess Jake Turpin's a pretty big loss but the thing is now, they've got to move on. The next focus is Manly, which is going to be a challenge."
