We won't lie to get a home

FRENCHVILLE mother-of-seven Jody Campion has refused to compromise her integrity after suggestions she lie about the number of children for whom she has to find a new home.

The Campions and their seven children were still looking for a home after the Morning Bulletin revealed their problems in trying to find a new abode over the past two months, due to a dire shortage of available housing.

Comments on the newspaper's website included one from "Kiwee from Allenstown", which read: "I'm not being prejudice or anything; I am just saying you may need to lie about how many kids you have".

An offer of a new home was also made in the newspaper's on-line comments, but the Campions were still assessing their options.

"Lying about the number of children we have is a ridiculous and irresponsible suggestion," Mrs Campion said.

"We don't think it's appropriate to start a tenancy based on a lie. We believe a home suitable to our family dynamic and situation is out there, without being dishonest."

Another online commenter, TeganC, wrote: "I think that shows just how honest this family is, by saying exactly how many kids they do have, even though they know that landlords will frown upon it."
