Where there's Hope: West Indies shock England

THE West Indies have put a major dent in England's confidence ahead of this summer's Ashes series, crushing the hosts in the second Test at Headingley.

The tourists chased down the 322 required on the final day with Shai Hope adding a second century to his first-innings ton. .

After scoring 147 to record his maiden Test hundred, the promising 23-year-old remained 118 not out in the second dig as the West Indies got home with five wickets to spare.

"Someone had to do it so I just put my hand up and did it for the team," Hope said.

Trailing by 169 runs on the first innings, England hit back to declare at 8-490 and set the West Indies a huge task.

One they were up to with Kraigg Brathwaite helping set up the win with 95 opening the batting and Jermaine Blackwood chipping in with 41 at the end.

It was the West Indies' first win in England 17 years ago - and a remarkable turnaround after they lost the first Test by an innings and 209 runs inside three days at Edgbaston.
