Why Rockhampton has been Kiss’n the big gigs goodbye

A NEW stadium could bring more live acts to Rockhampton, but one event business is hoping to see a flood of support for it from residents.

Stage & Audio Event Solutions operations manager Callan Buchholz has thrown his support behind the idea of having a bigger venue, but is concerned when it comes to filling seats.

"Rockhampton needs something to help it move forward, whether that's the redevelopment on Great Keppel or a stadium," Callan said.

"We need something to change the landscape of the area."

His only concern with a stadium is the current support for live events in the Beef Capital.

"The demographic in Rockhampton need to want more acts coming to town," Callan said.

At the moment, more than 70% of concert production at Stage & Audio is worked outside of Rockhampton.

But Callan said it'd be great to have more acts in town and have more live entertainment work within the region.
