Williams brothers ready to hit track in Summer Slam

SPEEDWAY: Local crowd favourites Leigh and Matt Williams are revved up and ready to race at the 3rd annual Super Sedan Summer Slam at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.

The dynamic duo will line up in Round 2 of the Super Sedans Queensland Series, the feature event at tomorrow night's action-packed McCosker Rocky Speedway meeting.

The program also includes Round 1 of the Juniors Piston Cup Series and Round 2 of the F500s Rumble Series, as well as super stockers, street stocks and modified sedans.

The Williams brothers have had some time off but are energised and excited to be back on track ahead of what's going to be a big season for them.

After six months out of the driver's seat, Matt recorded the fourth fastest time in the hot laps in Kingaroy a few weeks ago.

"Rocky is my favourite track and, after breaking the diff in the opening round a few weeks ago, I can't wait to turn it on at home now that the car has shaken some gremlins out,” he said.

"We've got a pretty big schedule this season and have planned on doing 22 shows, including the New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Australian titles.”

Junior drivers will be out in force tomorrow night, with 22 drivers - including six debutants - set to take the green light in the opening round of the Piston Cup Series.

Gates open at 3pm today, with racing from 4pm.
