Win for $100m resort developer

ROCKHAMPTON Regional Council’s planning committee has given its approval to an increase in units at a $100m, five-star resort at Tanby Point, near Emu Park.

The committee has recommended the full council approve an increase in the number of units from 120 to 210.

The change to the Moondaze development is not without controversy, however, and is opposed by locals including builder Scott Kilpatrick.

Capricorn Tourism and Economic Development chief executive Mary Carroll welcomed the news, stating new tourism development was vital for the region.
