Thieves smash car windows to get to valuables

RESOURCEFUL thieves broke into three cars in the Pilbeam Theatre car park over the weekend which has led police to issue a timely warning to the community.

Police are urging vehicle owners not to leave valuables in their cars after a number of them were targeted on October 23.

"Keep your cars locked and don't leave valuables in your car or that can be seen in plain view from the street," Rockhampton Police Senior Sergeant Tom Nelson said.

The vehicles in the Pilbeam Theatre car park contained bags or purses that could be seen from the outside.

Offenders used a rock or similar tool to smash windows to enter the vehicles and steal valuables including a quantity of money, bank cards, Townsville PBR tickets, a Leatherman knife, Maui sunglasses and an iPhone 6.
