Wine and dine with the experts

FEELING then need for a long lunch, then get along to Headricks Lane on Saturday, June 3 for a wine lunch with a difference, presented by South Australian Winemaker Greg Cooley of Greg Cooley Wines.

It'll be Good, Wine, Good Friends, Grand times when the outgoing 5 star Halliday rated winemaker showcases his range of wines from the beautiful Clare Valley Wine region and shares with you in good humour some of the stories behind his wines and his journey thus far as a winemaker.

Guests will enjoy canapes and a delicious 4 course meal presented by Headricks Lane Chef Roel Van Camp, with each course matched with pairing wines. Featured wines will include a recently released 2014 Reserve Cabernet and 2015 Reserve Chardonnay (oaked), alongside Rose, Pinot Grigio and of course Riesling, for which the Clare Valley Wine region is Internationally renowned.

"I am really excited about returning to Rockhampton we had a fabulous time at Delizies a few years ago ” said Greg. "I've heard fantastic things about Headricks Lane and I'm really proud of the wines we'll be presenting on the day....particularly the Cabernet and Riesling. It's the end of vintage and it's always great travelling with the boys from Tenori so I think all round it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm definitely looking forward to some warmer weather”!

Known for his fun approach to wine education Greg has gained an impressive reputation for his famous wine lunches which blend food, wine and music in a relaxed environment where people can enjoy wine without the pretense.

The day kicks off with bubbles at noon and to make the day even more special, Greg has teamed up with his good mates TENORI, which features members of the original Ten Tenors and promises to add an extra dimension to the day showcasing classics from Michael Buble and Leonard Cohen through to famous opera classics such as Nessun Dorma.

Tickets at $95 inclusive of food, wine and entertainment are limited to just 40 seats, so to get along call Greg's partner Kelli Shanahan on 0421 055 799 to book and confirm your seats now.

Oh...and if the name sounds familiar that's because it is - Kelli's grandfather being Michael Shanahan Snr, founder of Rockhampton's own Shanahan Accounting! Kelli (who was born in Rockhampton) is the daughter of locals Lois Cavanagh and Michael Shanahan, who now reside in Brisbane. Greg & Kelli reside in the Clare Valley Wine & Tourist region in South Australia just 1.5 hours north of Adelaide with their 5 year old son Max Joseph.
