Woman accused of grisly murder

THE woman accused of murdering Mount Morgan man Colin John Dent has been remanded in custody for at least two months.

Frances Margaret Oram, 50, could not apply for bail yesterday because the Rockhampton Magistrates Court didn't have jurisdiction to grant it.

She will be behind bars until her next mention on November 25 at 2pm.

Oram was charged with Mr Dent's murder on Thursday.

Yesterday she appeared dishevelled in an oversized jumper as she was brought into the courtroom dock for only a brief few minutes.

Its alleged Oram killed Mr Dent, 60, at his Bedsor Street, Mount Morgan home on Tuesday night.

Mr Dent's body was found in the doorway of his home and initial investigations sparked suspicions. An autopsy was conducted on Thursday, revealing that he could have been murdered.

During the investigation, State Emergency Services officers conducted a thorough foot search of the area and relatives and friends of Mr Dent were interviewed.

Police said the man's carer found his bloodied body.

There was also a trail of blood leading to the body.

Oram was not required to enter a plea yesterday to one count of murder.

If she wants to apply for bail, she will have to do so through the Supreme Court.
