Woman allegedly sideswipes police car while drunk

A WOMAN was charged with high range drink driving after the vehicle she was allegedly driving clipped a police vehicle at North Booval earlier this morning.

Police will allege that officers were conducting a routine traffic stop on Jacaranda Street around 1.20am when their police vehicle, with its emergency lights activated, was side swiped by a passing car.

Police chased the vehicle on foot and intercepted it after it mounted the gutter a short distance away.

A 37-year-old North Booval woman was charged with driving under the influence of liquor after she allegedly returned a breath alcohol concentration of 0.257 percent.

She is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 23 where she also faces a charge of failing to comply with the duties of a driver involved in a traffic crash.

The driver's side mirror on the police vehicle was destroyed.
