Woman allegedly stabs her partner

POLICE found Rockhampton's Ebony Kate Loomans smeared in her victim's blood, a court was told yesterday.

About 11pm Boxing Day, Loomans is accused of stabbing her partner with a steak knife, the court heard.

A visibly upset Loomans, 27, appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday after being charged with unlawful wounding.

It's alleged she stabbed her partner in the left shoulder with a steak knife.

Police prosecutor Constable Paige Barrow said police found the male victim at the front of a Wandal home.

Const Barrow said there was a lot of blood in the hallway of the home and a blood-covered steak knife was found in the sink.

Loomans declined to be formally interviewed by police, but allegedly told officers the victim had threatened her with a knife before she managed to take it and stab him.

Const Barrow said the pair had been living together since January, 2010.

However, defence solicitor Lance Rundle said Loomans lived alone with her two children, aged eight and 10 weeks.

Mr Rundle said the victim had arrived on the Christmas weekend.

Further details of the extent of the injury to the victim were not available for the court.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy granted bail on the condition Loomans had no contact with the victim. She was not required to enter a plea. The matter is adjourned for mention in January.
