Woman charged with giving drug before overdose

A 37-year-old Gold Coast woman has been charged with supplying the dangerous drug Fentanyl to a 42-year-old man in Mermaid Waters.

Police believe the powerful drug -- considered up to 100 times more potent than morphine -- led to the man's overdose and subsequent death.

Police were called to the home on Oceanic Drive at 5pm on Sunday, where they found the man.

The woman is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police are still investigations the circumstances of the man's death.
