Police tried to enter house before Moura woman died in blaze

THE Moura community is mourning the tragic loss of a local woman after she died in a house fire on Saturday.

Emergency crews rushed to the Hamilton St address shortly after 1am Saturday morning, to find the house engulfed by flames.

Moura Fire Station inspector Barry Maluga said police were first on scene and tried to reach the woman inside.

"(Police) tried to make entry but flames forced them back," Insp. Maluga said.

Fire crews from Moura, Theodore and Biloela were on scene and needed to use breathing apparatus. Insp. Maluga said the woman, in her 40s, was found "showing signs of life" and was taken to Queensland Ambulance officers on scene, but passed away shortly after.

The house was destroyed. A Queensland police spokesperson said it had been determined the fire was non-suspicious.
