1pm: POLICE arrested a Cawarral man, 22, who seriously assaulted a 33-year-old woman and his mother, 49, early this morning.

Police haven't yet charged the man, who is currently waiting to be processed at the Rockhampton watch house.

He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital to get a medical clearance, after spending much of the early morning out in the bush.

9.50am: IT is believed a man is now in police custody in relation to last night's incident at Cawarral that left a woman with head injuries.

It is believed the woman with serious head injuries is in a serious condition in Rockhampton Hospital. The Bulletin has confirmed the woman is actually 33-years-old, not 23-years-old as originally report.

The 49-year-old woman is in a stable condition in Rockhampton Hospital.

8.30am: A 23-YEAR-OLD woman is in a critical condition in Rockhampton Hospital with serious head injuries after a home invasion last night.

Police are searching for a man following an early morning assault in Rockhampton that left the woman in hospital with serious head injuries.

A 22-year-old man entered a home in Annie Drive at Cawarral and threatened and assaulted two women.

A 49-year-old woman received a broken nose and other facial injuries during the assault.

The 23-year-old woman was taken to the Rockhampton Base Hospital in a critical condition.

The man is described as Caucasian, about 176cm tall with short brown hair and a solid build.  He has a tattoo on his left bicep and on a calf muscle.

Investigations are continuing.
