Woman sexually assaulted in park

DETECTIVES investigating the sexual assault of a woman at Mackay this morning are appealing for public assistance.

Preliminary information indicates that a 23-year-old woman was walking down Tropical Avenue, Andergrove around 12.45am when a male has approached her from behind, and forced her into a nearby park where she was sexually assaulted.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a male in the vicinity around the time of the incident to contact them, or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious.
