UPDATE: THE woman trapped in the wreckage of a single vehicle crash has been freed by emergency crews and transported to hospital.

QAS Intensive care paramedic Scott Gordon said the woman was lucky to be alive after her car crashed into a tree and turned on its side.  

"I believe she has sustained only minor injuries."

It took crews about 20 minutes to free the driver.

She was in the car with two children who were rescued from the wreckage by neighbours.

BREAKING: Emergency services are working to free a woman trapped in the wreckage of a single vehicle crash in Toowoomba.

The crash occurred about 5.50pm at the intersection of Hume St and Hibiscus Dr, Kearneys Spring.

It is believed children were freed from the wreckage by residents living near where the crash took place.

Hume St is blocked in both directions. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
