Women enter league picture

KEEN rugby players turned up at Yeppoon Surf Club for preseason training last Thursday with new members for the women's team signing on.

At its December 2011 meeting, the Yeppoon Seagulls Rugby League Club decided that a women's rugby league team be part of the league club's expansion this season.

By including a women's team in the competition premiership mission, Seagulls look to support the development of women's rugby league, give women on the Capricorn Coast the opportunity to take part in another sporting code and give spectators a wider range of league presentation.

As well as having men compete in the Rockhampton Rugby League A grade, reserve grade and under 20s, the Seagulls women will participate in a proposed Central Queensland women's competition with teams from Gladstone, Central Highlands and Rockhampton.

All Seagulls Rugby League teams will train at Webb Park on Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm
