Work on Gallery Apartments on riverfront begins early 2016
FROM The Edge to the Empire, Central Queensland property developers Andrew Beaumont and Wayne Riddell have drastically transformed the Rockhampton riverbank precinct.
As 2016 approaches, so does the mighty Fitzroy riverbank's next highly anticipated addition.
Mr Beaumont and Mr Riddell will start construction on their next Victoria Pde project, the Gallery Apartments, early next year.
"Our plan is to start construction in the first quarter of 2016 and it will take about 14 months to build so we will have a finish date of early 2017," Mr Beaumont said.
"There will be 62 high-end residential apartments with massive balconies and lots of space.
"It's a good local project that will create well over 100 jobs in the construction phase for locals and then there will be ongoing jobs once it's up and running."
Keeping in theme with the riverbank's alfresco dining theme, Mr Beaumont said the ground floor would feature an exciting new restaurant.
"We will have one restaurant on the ground floor adjoining the Rockhampton Art Gallery," Mr Beaumont said.
"We're using the same landscape architects that designed the Empire and we're going to make use of that open area in front of the art gallery to create an elevated outdoor eating area on the same level as the Pilbeam Theatre and Delizie restaurant.
"We have had a few inquiries for the restaurant, but we are holding off for the right restaurant with a high-end lunch and dinner offering."
As for the apartments, Mr Beaumont said buyers were already showing interest.
"The appeal at the moment is for high-end large units and there is real interest in our large, three-bedroom riverfront apartments," Mr Beaumont said.
"We have over $6million under contract. We are still chasing some pre-sale but already have 12 apartments that are either under contract or going to contract. We also have six holds. We're well on the way."
