Work’s hard at bay office for one Capricorn Coast family
MOST people would be pretty happy to swap their day in the office for a day at the beach.
One Capricorn Coast family has done exactly that.
Kathie O'Reilly and her sons Jordan and Straun have taken their love of water sports a step further and moved their office on to the calm blue waters of Keppel Bay.
Kathie started Capricorn Coast Watersports Adventures after she saw a gap in the market that wasn't being filled.
She said a lot of people didn't have the opportunity to get out on the bay in a jet ski. "We like to get people out there to see how safe and how much fun they are," she said.
The O'Reillys moved to the Capricorn Coast from New Zealand four years ago and have always lived around the water and boats, fishing and diving.
The boys are both free divers and Kathie said they realised one day there was nothing like this on the coast.
"There's a market for it, and besides, what better office could you have," she said. In time, Capricorn Coast Watersports Adventures hopes to expand into day trips to the Keppel islands.
"It only takes about 20 minutes in good weather to reach Great Keppel."
The business runs out of Lammermoor or Kemp Beaches, depending on weather or conditions and can be found at www.capricorncoastwatersportsadventures.com.
Jet ski hire is available on weekends from 10am to 4pm or at other times by appointment. All safety gear is provided and no marine licence is necessary.
