XXXX Island garage sale is an opportunity to pick up momento

FORMER guests keen to grab a momento from their time spent on XXXX Island will have the chance to pick up something special at a garage sale on Sunday.

Held in partnership with Keppel Bay Marina, there will be XXXX GOLD merchandise available as well as more than 100 pre-loved items from XXXX Island being sold for a steal from assorted memorabilia, board games, radios and framed images of sporting moments, to backyard goods like hammocks and deck chairs.

All proceeds raised will be donated to St Vincent de Paul Yeppoon and the Yeppoon Coastguard.

Each item has lived on XXXX Island for the past three-and- a-half years and has helped people enjoy the simple pleasures in life such as the much loved Aussie lifestyle, the outdoors, the sun, some beers and great mates.

In addition to all of the bargains to be snapped up, there will also be live music, a XXXX GOLD raffle and a BBQ and bar where $1 from every steak sandwich and schooner sold at the Keppel Bay Marina Bar will be donated to the nominated charity partners.

XXXX Island manager Mel Legge said the garage sale was designed to be a fun afternoon out for the community and a chance to keep the memory of XXXX Island alive for years to come in local homes.

"There is going to be something for everyone to enjoy, as well as plenty of opportunities to snap up your own piece of XXXX Island history," she said.

"With two great charities on board to support, there's no better reason to come down and enjoy a cold XXXX GOLD with some mates.

"Vinnies and the Yeppoon Coast Guard play a vital role in the community, and choosing them as the charity partners is our way of further showing our thanks to the community that has shown us great hospitality over our time on the Island."

Marnie Finster, State Communications Manager for St. Vincent de Paul, said: "Being chosen as one of the charity partners by XXXX is a wonderful opportunity for us to continue giving a hand to the coastal community, something we have been doing since the early 1980's."

Yeppoon Coastguard Flotilla Commander, Arthur Hunt said, "We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the XXXX Island Garage Sale. All Coastguard members are volunteers, so the donations will be very welcome and will be used to support our on-water rescue operations and training."
